The Vicksburg Police Department and Make a Promise Coalition are teaming up for a local prescription drug initiative called the American Medicine Chest Challenge.

A “Drive Up, Drop Off” event to collect expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Outlets at Vicksburg and Vicksburg Police Department. The service is free and anonymous.

“The illegal use of prescription medicines has risen at an alarming rate,” Deputy Chief John Dolan said in a release. “Please join us in ridding our community of these drugs by taking advantage of the drop-off sites.”
