More than 650 items of city inventory will be on the auction block Saturday as the city tries to make back some money spent on items that have been declared surplus or scrap.
“I’m estimating, from past city auctions, the auction will bring in about $30,000,” said city purchasing director Tim Smith. “But that always depends on the crowd.”
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved an agreement with Mississippi Auction Services, a Vicksburg firm, last week to conduct the auction. The auctioneer will receive 10 percent of sales.
