Art by the late Caroline R. Compton of Vicksburg will be presented at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson Tuesday.

The show, called Unburied Treasures, will feature a reading by Rand Jolly, a former Warren Central High School teacher and the current chief of the art department at Mississippi College. The Szlubowski Duo will play the piano.

Compton’s oil portrait of George Benjamin Luks, an American realist artist and illustrator, will be on display. She took lessons from him in New York in the late 1920s. Compton, who was born in 1907 and died 1987, studied at the Grand Central School of Art in New York.
