Art by the late Caroline R. Compton of Vicksburg will be presented at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson Tuesday.

Compton’s oil portrait of George Benjamin Luks, an American realist artist and illustrator, will be on display. She took lessons from him in New York in the late 1920s. Compton, who was born in 1907 and died 1987, studied at the Grand Central School of Art in New York.
