Property tax collections received by the Vicksburg Warren School District from Warren County are lagging slightly behind year-to-date levels received in previous years, district financial manager Dale McClung told trustees Thursday night.

Figures show the district has received $1,816,680 in district maintenance, homestead exemptions and negotiable notes through October, about 6.89 percent of the $26,357,883 to be provided this fiscal year for the schools from county coffers.

The year-to-date figure is down from last year’s $1,839,620, which was 7.28 percent of the budgeted $25.4 million, and from $1,831,717 in 2008, which was 7.66 percent of the requested annual contribution, $23,920,757.

“We are somewhat behind, but a large part of that is due to the fact that the request is larger than it has been in prior years,” McClung told the board. “It distorts the percentage somewhat.”
