A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail Saturday night on a drug charge.

Keith Sanders, 29, 40 Archie Drive, was arrested at 7:36 p.m. Friday after a Warren County deputy had attempted to stop his vehicle for a traffic violation at Alcorn Drive and Mission 66, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Pace said Sanders did not stop his vehicle when signaled by the deputy, but had jumped out of the car while it was still moving and fled into a nearby wooded area. The deputy had to jump into the moving vehicle and stop it before it wrecked, Pace said.

A K-9 search ensued in the woods and Sanders was caught, Pace said.

During a search of Sanders’ vehicle, officials found a pound of marijuana, and charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Pace said.

He also was charged with two misdemeanor traffic violations. He was being held without bond.
