As most of this community realizes, 150 years of Catholic education was recently celebrated in Vicksburg.

Whatever your connection to the weekend, at some point you probably encountered Patty Mekus, the Development Director at Vicksburg Catholic School. Patty’s enthusiasm over the past 18 months of planning was contagious and made you want to be involved, whether or not you were an alumnus. She, by the way, is not an alumna but a dedicated employee and parent who loves Vicksburg Catholic School and its history.

I can’t help but think that it was this same type of dedication that brought about Catholic education in Vicksburg.

I am proud to be an alumna of St. Aloysius, proud of the contributions Catholic education has made to Vicksburg and proud of Patty Mekus.
