Vikings notch pair of shutout victories

Warren Central continued its pattern of strong defensive play and high-powered offense early in the season by taking a pair of shutout victories at the Laurel tournament on Saturday.
Erik Chappell scored three goals and assisted on another to lead WC to a 5-0 rout of South Jones in its first game of the day. Bastiaan Koelman added another goal, and Chandler Bounds had a goal and an assist.
In WC’s second game, Bounds scored twice and Chappell contributed a goal and an assist as the Vikings beat George County 4-0. Tre Wilson had a goal and an assist for WC, while midfielder Markus Renner assisted on a goal and provided solid defensive support.
The wins improved Warren Central’s record to 4-0. They’ve shut out three opponents so far and have outscored them 23-2.
