After winning a share of the Gulf South Conference championship, Delta State received a No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the NCAA Division II playoffs.

Delta State (8-3) will host either North Alabama or Valdosta State at noon on Nov. 27. The brackets were announced Sunday.

The other side of the bracket features a first-round game between Morehouse and Wingate, with the winner advancing to play Albany State. All first-round games are scheduled for this weekend.

Delta State is making its fourth playoff appearance in five seasons. It reached the semifinals in 2006 and the quarterfinals in 2008.

The Statesmen finished the regular season with a 41-17 rout of Division III Lambuth on Saturday. Delta State rolled up a school-record 711 yards of total offense.
