Gwendolyn Wilson Ware Reid

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Gwendolyn Wilson Ware Reid died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, in Scottsdale. She was 94.

Mrs. Reid was born in Lock Springs, Mo., to Glade Aubrey Ware and Billie Jessica Wilson Ware. She was raised in Jamesport, Mo., and worked as a hairdresser in Kansas City before marrying.

In 1951, she moved with her husband to Vicksburg, where they lived for 40 years. She was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church and a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She worked at Waterways Experiment Station.

In 1991, she moved to San Marcos, Calif., where she lived for 18 years before relocating to Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Brooks Reid Sr.; and a son, Dennis Edwin Reid.

She is survived by two daughters, Serena Reid Jenkins of Pinson, Ala., and Sharon Reid Bushman of Scottsdale; a son, Kenneth Brooks Reid Jr. of San Marcos; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by The Neptune Society of Arizona. Burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery, the former Green Acres Memorial Park, of Vicksburg.
