JACKSON — The early brilliance of Jackson State quarterback Casey Therriault was enough for the Tigers to beat archrival Alcorn State 27-14 Saturday at the 18th annual Capital City Classic at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Therriault, a junior from Michigan, led the Tigers (8-3, 6-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) to four touchdowns in his six possessions in the first half. On his last play, with four minutes left, Therriault broke his collarbone trying to dive toward the pylon at the end of a 20-yard scramble.
