Johnny H. Laney

Johnny H. Laney died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Heritage House Retirement Center. He was 88.

Born in Berry, Ala., Mr. Laney had been a resident of Issaquena County since 1940, and was a game warden with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks until he retired in 1986. Mr. Laney was a member of the Paxton Masonic Lodge. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Elizabeth Laney.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian “Mickey” Laney, of Eagle Lake; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Doris Leist and Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City will follow. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Myers, Leroy Williams, John Elfer, Roy Watson, Donald Sharpshire, L.J. Smith and Bob Farrer.
