FAYETTE — Louis Johnson Jr. died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. He was 72.
Mr. Johnson was born in Natchez to Louis and Johnnie Pearl Johnson. He graduated from Sadie V. Thompson High School and Alcorn State University and was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Fayette and the Knights of Peter Claver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Mary Louise Washington and two brothers, Joe Johnson and Elbert Johnson.
Survivors include two sons, Cedric Johnson of Charlotte, N.C., and Clayton Washington of Fayette; one daughter, Pamela Palmer of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Valarie January of Fayette; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Natchez with the Rev. James Fallon officiating. Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the service.
