NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Charles William Barrett, 79, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, were at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 6, 2010, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Akins officiating. Burial followed at New Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Gloster under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, and this morning from 10 until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Barrett was born July 22, 1931, in Holly Bluff to Harrison Dewitt and Ellen McCluskey Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Francis “Doc” Barrett. He loved working, spending time with his family and his animals. His favorite television shows were “Wheel of Fortune” and old westerns. Mr. Barrett loved to read the newspaper. His happiest times were spent driving his big truck. He loved going to his newfound church, Tower Hill Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Charisse Rogers, Delvia Barrett and Rita Brabham and her husband, Steven Dale; seven grandchildren, Chelse Griffin, Sara Delong, Raini Whittington and her husband, Jeff, Jade Kalil and her husband, Buddy, Taylor Knapp, Jessie Rymer and Shelby Brabham; three great-grandchildren, Ty Whittington, Ashly Kalil and Aiden Delong; four brothers and five sisters; and three very special loved ones, Allen Rymer, Patricia Grant and Deidra Bond.
Pallbearers were Aaron Buckles, Ron Donaldson, Jason Carter, David Southerland, Kevin Clark and Curtis Martin.
Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Warren, Carl Norris, Jerry Hale, Lewis Buckles and John Owens.
