A freshman at Vicksburg High was in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center this morning, charged with possession of a weapon on school property, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

The 14-year-old was arrested at the school around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after other students told a teacher that the teen had a handgun in his backpack, Stewart said.

The teen told police he was having trouble with other students and felt threatened.

The teen was being held without bond pending an initial hearing.

This is the third incident involving a weapon on VHS property in two months. On Oct. 29, a 16-year-old was arrested at Memorial Stadium, where crosstown rivals VHS and Warren Central were playing football, and charged with possession of a handgun. On Nov. 30, an 18-year-old student was arrested for carrying a pocketknife in the school off Drummond and Lee streets.
