Nurse robbed after leaving nursing home

An armed robbery on Cherry Street was reported at 10:20 Sunday night by a nurse who had just gotten off work at Vicksburg Convalescent Home, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said today.

The victim was warming up her car in a parking lot in the 1700 block when a slim man wearing a black jacket and black pants tapped on the car window with a handgun, Stewart said.

The man demanded that she give him “everything you’ve got,” and when she told him she didn’t have anything, he told her to hand over her cell phone. She opened the door and gave him the phone, Stewart said. When she started to back out of the parking space, the man fired one shot into her car and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
