JACKSON — Rosie L. Nelson died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at her home in Jackson. She was 64.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Nelson graduated from Temple High School in 1965. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with an emphasis in education from Jackson State University. She served as an educator for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Reed and Mary Ewell Reed of Bovina; a sister, Virginia Ivory of Vicksburg; and two brothers, Leonard Cook of Chicago and George Reed of Vicksburg.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Joe Nelson Sr. of Jackson; two sons, Earl Joe Nelson Jr. of Biloxi and Daryl Nelson of Memphis; two sisters, Ivory Rushing of Chicago and Katie Neal of Vicksburg; one brother, Robert Reed of Sand Springs, Okla.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home, 1525 Beasley Road in Jackson. Burial will follow at Garden Memorial Park in Jackson. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
