Vicksburg (6-4) missed a chance to beat defending Grand Slam champion Raymond at the Ridgeland Classic.

A 3-pointer by Raymond’s Tamera Williams with 1:27 left broke a 35-35 tie. Williams then added another basket, and two free throws from Allisa Wiilliams with 12 seconds left sealed it for the Lady Rangers.

Donyeah Mayfield scored 10 points to pace Vicksburg, but none came in the second half. Shanequa Hill also scored all nine of her points in the first half to hand the Missy Gators a 27-21 lead.

Tamera Williams hit three 3-pointers in the second half to key Raymond’s comeback.

The Missy Gators will return to action next week at the Mendenhall tournament.
