A Claiborne County teen was in the Warren County Jail Thursday charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Dewayne Donnell Flowers, 17, Pattison Tillman Road, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Thursday after the car in which he was a passenger was stopped by deputies at Indiana Avenue and Blossom Lane for not having a license plate, the sheriff said.

When the deputy walked up to the car, he could see a pistol sticking out of Flowers’ coat pocket, said Pace.

The gun, a Jimenez 9 mm, had been reported stolen in Claiborne County, he said. Investigators were looking into how he got the gun.

As previously reported, the driver, Kemrod Short, 20, 1922 Sky Farm Ave., also was arrested after a records check found he was wanted by Vicksburg police for sexual battery of a 15-year-old, Pace said.

Flowers’ bond was set at $5,000.
