The Sleep Center at River Region Medical Center has gained accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

The center was given three months of preparation time to pass a six-hour inspection. Criteria, set by Medicare and private insurers, include displaying and maintaining proficiency in: testing procedures and policies; patient safety and follow-up; and physician and staff training.

The Sleep Center is located on the first floor of River Region West, on North Frontage Road. The facility treats more than 80 disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy and restless legs syndrome.
