Troy Jones is heading into 2011 with a plan.

“I’m not out of work, but I am looking ahead,” said the 41-year-old construction worker as he browsed the web for employment leads at the Vicksburg WIN Job Center this week. “Sometimes your blessings don’t lie in your hometown, so you have to look in other cities. I was laid off from Ergon in 2008, but have been able to find steady jobs. You just have to get out there and search.”

Typically, in the new year, folks vow to lose weight and get into shape. But Jones is being proactive in dealing with an economy that’s still shaky from a recession that began in 2008.
