Eakes, Thornell to marry Feb. 5

The engagement of Amanda Rose Eakes to Robert William Thornell Jr., both of Vicksburg, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 2 p.m. Feb. 5, 2011, at Hawkins United Methodist Church. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Eakes is the daughter of the late Lamar Eakes and Betsy Eakes of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Roebuck and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Eakes, all of Philadelphia, Miss.

Mr. Thornell is the son of Robert W. Thornell and Amelia Thornell, both of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of the late John Melvin and the late Rebecca Melvin, both of El Paso, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Thornell of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is a 1994 graduate of Vicksburg High School. She attended Hinds Community College.

Miss Eakes is head teller at B&K Bank.

The prospective groom is a 1999 graduate of Warren Central High School. He attended Hinds Community College.

Mr. Thornell is an automotive technician at George Carr.
