Four Gators earn All-Region honors

Vicksburg High was well-represented on the All-Region 2-6A football squad, with four players named to the first team.
Lamar Anthony, who returned kicks and played wide receiver and defensive back, was named the region’s best kick returner. He returned seven kicks for 129 yards and caught 16 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 53 tackles and four interceptions on defense.
Quarterback Cameron Cooksey, wide receiver Alvin Stamps and center Tyler Haas also made the first team.
Cooksey completed 154 of 274 passes for 2,352 yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. In only two varsity seasons the junior has thrown for more than 3,000 yards.
Stamps caught 35 passes for 1,021 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Linebacker Trey Darden, fullback Eric Funches, defensive end Kenderick Parson, wide receiver Milan Nasif, offensive tackle Norman Price, offensive lineman Keith Phillips, cornerback Jonathan Tenner, kicker Travis Haas and linebacker ShaQuan James all made the second team.
Earning honorable mention honors were tight end Namonta Gaines, receiver Adam Reed and lineman Jeremy Hill.
