It took 80 minutes of regulation, two overtimes and a second round of penalty kicks, but Warren Central’s girls finally made history Thursday night at Memorial Stadium.

Kylee Burk’s penalty kick found the net, giving Warren Central its first season sweep of Vicksburg High in girls soccer — and a berth in the Class 6A playoffs.

“We made history,” said an ecstatic Lady Vikes goalkeeper Katie Humphries of WC’s 1-1 (2-1 penalty kick win). “We beat Vicksburg twice in the same season.”

Humphries had a big hand in the win. She made four saves in the penalty kick phase and four more in regulation.

Three of her PK saves came after Vicksburg (4-10, 2-4 Division 4-6A) had gotten a score from Amanda Guizerix on its second shot.
