UCS defeats Porters Chapel in hoops, 45-7

Porters Chapel (1-13, 1-9 District 5-A) went nearly 25 minutes in between field goals and finished 2-for-36 from the field in a loss to district rival University Christian.

After Taylor Hays hit a 3-pointer with just under six minutes left in the first quarter to give the Lady Eagles a 3-1 lead, they didn’t make another shot until Claire Mims’ 15-footer fell in with 4:55 left in the fourth. They did not score at all in the third quarter, and Mims’ basket was good for their only points in the fourth.

University Christian wasn’t spectacular — it shot just 31.6 percent for the game — but had a 47-19 rebounding advantage and steadily pulled away.
