PORT GIBSON — Moses “Pete” Garner died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011. He was 68.
Mr. Garner was a member of Jerusalem M.B. Church. He was retired from Whittar Steel of Detroit, where he was a union representative.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Haywood-Garner of Port Gibson; three sons, Michael Hall, Wendell Hall and James Haywood, all of Detroit; three daughters, Regina Patille and Kim Jamerson, both of Detroit, and Cynthia Bride of Port Gibson; two brothers, A.C. Garner of Port Gibson and David Garner of Montreal; three sisters, Sarah Hawkins of Kansas City, Ruby Lucas of Chicago and Lorene Haywood of Detroit; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mercy Seat M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Eddie Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 today at Thompson Funeral Home and Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
