Ronald Lee Thornton died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at his home. He was 64.

Mr. Thornton was born and raised in Vicksburg and was a lifetime member of Northside Baptist Church. He was a 1965 graduate of Culkin Academy. He was a former employee of Anderson-Tully Co. and Waterways Experiment Station.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Gilbert Thornton; maternal grandparents, John and Mattie Hart; and paternal grandparents, Harry and Lillie Thornton.

Survivors include his mother, Gladys Muriel Stephens Thornton of Vicksburg; and several nieces and cousins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Lescallette officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home and Friday at 10 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Charles Houston, Ben Luckett, Shane Rowland, John Johnston, Ricky Pennington Sr. and Shelton Nielsen.

Honorary pallbearers will be L.C. Nielsen, Thomas Warnock, Ricky Jones, Jerry Abbott and Windy Wilson.
