Velda O. Buchanan died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Buchanan was born in Ritchey, Miss. She had lived in Vicksburg for 70 years and was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Glenwood Funeral Home, Office Supply Co. and retired from Best Western Motel in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, F.H. Buchanan Sr.; a daughter, Edna Ruth Crevitt; a grandson, Ed Crevitt; and her parents, James and Ruth Cook.

Survivors include her son, F.H. Buchanan Jr. of Metairie, La.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Cary Stockett officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
