James V. “J.V.” Sanders died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, he retired from the Vicksburg Fire Department after 20 years of service. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by a daughter, Sandy Owens of Southaven; two sons, Ottis Sanders of Pearl and Leroy Sanders of Vicksburg; two sisters, Elaine Carroll of Vicksburg and Jean Agustin of Gulfport; two brothers, Charles Sanders of Vicksburg and Riley Sanders of Alabama; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be James Arthur Gaines, Johnny Sellers, George Leach, Zack Cherry, Tommy Palmer and Robert Pierce.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Gilbert’s Home Health and Hospice.
