NEWELLTON — John Wesley Thompson Jr. died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011. He was 59.

Mr. Thompson was a lifelong resident of Newellton. He was a retired Tensas Parish sheriff’s deputy.

He is survived by his wife, Shelia Kay Thompson of Newellton; a son, John Wesley Thompson III of Newellton; three daughters, Sheila Thompson of La Grulla, Texas, and Teresa Thompson and Jennifer Thompson, both of Newellton; four sisters, Bobbie Bamburg of Houston, Flo Brown of Lake Providence and Gracie Jesseph and Ferne McGee, both of Newellton; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. James Harrison Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Legion Cemetery in Newellton. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.
