A Vicksburg man was arrested Friday evening after a store owner became suspicious of a possible shoplifter and called police, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Lenard Herndell, 20, 440 Lake Hill Drive, Apt. 106, was arrested at 7:36 p.m. at Fred’s Dollar Store, 3429 Halls Ferry Road, when police found a bag of marijuana inside his jacket pocket, Stewart said.

The store owner became suspicious because Herndell kept checking his pocket, said the lieutenant.

Herndell was charged with possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Warren County Jail, where he was released after posting a $5,000 bond, said Stewart.
