WC girls send Vicksburg packing

Warren Central had a plan to frustrate reigning Vicksburg Post Player of the Year Donyeah Mayfield.

It worked. Mayfield got hit with three fouls in the first six minutes and had to sit out the rest of the half. The Missy Gators could not recover and their once-promising season crashed and burned with a 42-34 loss to their archrivals, the Lady Vikes, in the Division 4-6A Tournament Tuesday.

With the win, Warren Central (9-15) advances to Friday night’s final against Clinton (16-10). The two teams split in the regular season with each winning on its home court. Vicksburg’s season ends at 10-13.
