John Henry Meeks Savage

SAN FRANCISCO — John Henry Meeks “Bubba” Savage died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at his home. He was 72.

Mr. Savage was born in Vicksburg to Emmett and Annie Savage. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a driver for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency for more than 10 years and was retired from the San Francisco Police Department.

He was preceded in death by a son, Byron “Beau” Savage; and two sisters, Pearl Savage and Eugenia Savage.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sondra Butler Savage; one son, John Anthony Savage of San Diego; one daughter, Karla Lancaster of Los Angeles; five brothers, Arthur Savage and Arnold Savage, both of Los Angeles, Richard Savage of Milton, Mass., Lester “Billy” Savage of San Francisco and Emmett Savage of San Diego; one sister, Anne Nixon of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives, including Debbie Savage of Pacifica, Calif.

Services were Feb. 16 at Cypress Lawn in Colma, Calif.
