Similarities abound between the two Class 6A boys state tournament semifinalists, Pascagoula and Vicksburg.

Both of the team’s coaches are named Robinson. And both coaches have earned the respect of their peers as the coach of Team Mississippi in the annual Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game. Vicksburg’s Dellie C. Robinson earned that honor in 2009 and Pascagoula’s Keith Robinson will coach the 2011 team.

Vicksburg’s Robinson says there is more than just the coaches.

“Pascagoula is a lot like us,” Robinson said. “They have a 6-foot-5 guy inside and they are real athletic. They have another big kid inside and a decent point guard.”

The two teams collide Wednesday in a Class 6A Boys State Tournament semifinal at 2:30 p.m. at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
