Annie Pearl Dykes

Mrs. Annie Pearl Dykes died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.

Born in Chunky, Miss., Mrs. Dykes was the daughter of the late James Lafayette Bishop and Lula Tatum Bishop. She had been a resident of Vicksburg most of her life and was a graduate of Carr Central High School.

Mrs. Dykes was employed by Odom’s Dispensing Opticians as an optical technician during World War II and later was a bookkeeper for Craigo Buick and a proof- reader for the Vicksburg Evening Post. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday school class.

She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Dykes (Deborah Grubbs) of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Amy McMahon (Mike), Ann Marie Smith (H. Carter), Brian G. Dykes (Wendy) and Adam C. Dykes; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria B. Logan and Pat B. Hutson; and a brother, Charles Bishop.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis E. Dykes; and two sons, Willis Gerald Dykes and Melvin Ray Dykes.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Ben Allen, Gary Dykes, Todd Dykes, Keith Gordon, George Joy and Mike McMahon.
