Location, location, location are the words developers use when deciding where to build houses. The same holds true for officials seeking a site for Warren County’s new jail.
On Monday, Warren County supervisors looked at a draft version of a request in which they will ask the public to help pick a spot for a jail that has been discussed for years. The request is expected to be approved formally March 21.
Suitable land must be at least 15 acres within the county’s 618 square miles and it must be near major transportation routes and utilities.
The offers will be evaluated by size, terrain, distance from major roads and the existing detention and court facilities, what types of planned and existing development are near the parcel and the possible impact to quality of life on the surrounding area.
