Services for Melvina Juanita Carson Young will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vicksburg City Auditorium with the Rev. Casey Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Young died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at her home. She was 80.

She retired from GNB Battery Co. and was a member of Triumphant M.B. Church, where she was in the Willing Workers Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Young Sr.; her parents, John and Ethel Wilson Carson; and three brothers, Sam Carson, Earl Carson and Joseph Carson.

Survivors include three sons, Walter Young Jr. of Vicksburg, Willie Young of Detroit and Benard Young of West Germany; four daughters, Earnestine Young of Detroit, Carolyn Young-Brown of Vicksburg, Joyce Young of Spring, Texas, and Demetrius Young-Baafi of Ghana, Africa; a brother, John Carson Jr. of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
