Charles W. Brasfeild

Charles W. Brasfeild died Friday, March 18, 2011, at his home. He was 93.
Mr. Brasfeild was born in Monroe County and had lived in Vicksburg since 1930. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring from the Army Reserve in 1968.
Mr. Brasfeild retired from Waterways Experiment Station in 1973 with 38 years of service. He was in the Gallery of Distinguished Civilian Employees.
His memberships include the American Legion Post 3, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2572, Disabled American Veterans-Vicksburg Chapter No. 22, Elks Lodge BPOE No. 95 and the Warren County Hunting and Fishing Club, of which he had been president.
Mr. Brasfeild was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie L. Brasfeild and Estelle Carson Brasfeild; two sisters, Frances Turner and Corrie Findley; and four brothers, Joe A. Brasfeild, Louis C. Brasfeild, John W. Brasfeild and Earl H. Brasfeild.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Green Brasfeild; two daughters, Elizabeth L. “Herbie” Morin of Pensacola, Fla., and Margaret “Peggy” Wright of Vicksburg; a son, Charles W. Brasfeild Jr. of Vicksburg; a brother, Edgar W. Brasfeild of Brandon; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home.
