A city man was charged Monday with felony third offense domestic violence, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Dexter Yates, 45, 712 Speed St., was in Vicksburg Municipal Court for an arraignment for what was thought to be his second domestic violence offense when a records check revealed it was actually his third, Stewart said.

Yates was sought on an assault warrant dating to December 2009. He was released Monday night on a $5,000 bond.
