Catherine M. Bailey

LORMAN — Catherine M. “Cat” Bailey died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. She was 71.

Mrs. Bailey was a longtime member of Fellowship M.B. Church, where she served on the mother board and with the usher and missionary ministries. She was founder of the Willing Workers Ministry. She also served as historian of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Association of Jefferson County Women’s Auxiliary.

She was employed at Alcorn State University for 20 years and was also self-employed for nearly 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Bailey; four sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include four sons, Cornelius Bailey and Richard Bailey, both of Lorman, Thomas Porter of Charlotte, N.C., and Frank Bailey of Columbus, Ga.; a daughter, Berlinda B. Smith of Lorman; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hollywood M.B. Church, 77 Hollywood Road in Fayette. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Rodney Road in Lorman. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
