Lonnie Hilan Vance

Lonnie Hilan Vance died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at his home. He was 83.

Born in Fannin, Miss., he was a retired employee of Baker Security and was a member of the Painter Local in Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army for nine years, serving in Germany, the Philippines, the Korean Conflict and WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isiaah Hilan and Emma Mae Bunch Vance; stepfather, Robert Lee Goings; a son, Phil W. Vance, in 2008; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Boykin.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucy M. Vance of Vicksburg; two daughters, Audrey Marie Brewer of Saltillo and Eileen (Bill) Bailey of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with Brian Marble officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
