Four Claiborne County residents were injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle wreck on Fisher Ferry Road about three miles south of the Warren County line.

Two of the four, Dustin Stokes, 21, 21087 Old Port Gibson Road, and Amber Mitchell, 23, 14091 Old Port Gibson Road, were airlifted from near the wreck scene to University Medical Center in Jackson. The other two, Jesse Stokes, 17, Dustin’s brother; and Karen Redden, 54, 19051 Old Port Gibson Road, were taken to River Region Medical Center, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, whose deputies were first on the scene and who sought and received permission from the Vicksburg Fire Department to have city ambulances cross the county line.

No conditions were available for any of the wreck victims Saturday night.

The wreck occurred just before 8 p.m., Pace said, as a northbound 1999 Chevrolet pickup driven by Dustin Stokes ran off the right side of the two-lane road and overcompensated when re-entering the roadway, crossing the center line and hitting the back quarter panel of a southbound 1998 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Robert Redden, 56, also of 19051 Old Port Gibson Road. The truck then hit — nearly head-on, Pace said — a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Mitchell.

Robert Redden was not injured.

Two other passengers in the truck driven by Dustin Stokes, Blane Goss and Blake Kirkland, both 17 and both from Vicksburg, also were not injured.

All five of the Old Port Gibson Road residents have Utica mailing addresses, but live in Claiborne County, Pace said, explaining that the road runs through two counties and several towns.

The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department was to handle the official investigation into the wreck, Pace said.
