A full weekend of events is planned to celebrate the investiture of Dr. M. Christopher Brown II, Alcorn State University’s 18th president.

Brown, who took office in January, will be formally inaugurated at a ceremony Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. on the Lorman campus, but events will kickoff Friday with a symposium and luncheon in Vicksburg, where ASU maintains a satellite campus.

“A presidential inauguration is a significant occasion in the life of a university,” Dr. Josephine Posey, co-chairman of the inauguration committee, said in a prepared statement. “(It is a) time to reflect and celebrate our accomplishments and rich history, and confirm with confidence a future of great promise.”
