Sunday is Palm Sunday, and Mary Jo Wright of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church is making preparations, folding palms into crosses. Some churches distribute the unformed palm branches during Palm Sunday services as a symbol of Jesus’ procession into Jerusalem the week before his crucifixion. The Bible says palm branches were placed in his path as he made his way into the city. Once parishioners have received the branches, they may form them into crosses, as Wright does.
