Poe, White to recite vows on June 4

Will and Denice Poe of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Ruth Elizabeth, to Andrew Stephen White of Hattiesburg. Mr. White is the son of Phylis White and Gordon White, both of Vicksburg.

Miss Poe is the granddaughter of Evelyn Houston of Brandon and the late Jimmy Houston and the late Wilbur and Ruth Hood Poe.

Mr. White is the grandson of Marylyn White of Shreveport and the late Homer Leland White and Joseph Fisher of New Orleans and the late Caro Fisher.

The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of Madrigals, Total Sound, Mu Alpha Theta, Quiz Bowl, Student Council, National Honor Society, Beta Club and musicals.

She will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in May from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, Golden Key international society, Lambda Sigma, Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi and The Scholars.

Miss Poe is employed at Regions Mortgage and will begin her master’s program in history at USM in the fall.

The prospective groom is a 2003 graduate of Warren Central High School, where he was a member of Total Sound, Photography Club, the swim team and musicals.

He is a corporal in the Marine Corps Reserve and will receive a bachelor’s degree in audiology in May 2012 from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he is a member of Show of Hands.

Mr. White is employed at Hattiesburg’s Microtel Inn and Suites.

Vows will be exchanged at 5:30 p.m. June 4, 2011, in a small, intimate ceremony and reception at The Corners Bed & Breakfast. All friends and relatives are invited to attend a large reception that will precede the ceremony from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. June 4 at First Baptist Church.
