The engagement of Jean Brown of Vicksburg to John Andrews of Lena is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 3 p.m. Aug. 27, 2011, at Baltes Gym. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. No in-town invitations will be sent.

Ms. Brown is the daughter of Hester Lockridge of Vicksburg and the late Jones James Sr. of Los Angeles. She is the granddaughter of the late Ella Lockridge of Vicksburg, the late Joe Lockridge of Glen Allan and the late Enos and Willie James of Evansville, Ind.

Mr. Andrews is the son of Farris Atkins of Vicksburg and Andrew Atkins of Lena. He is the grandson of Turnage Buddy Hull of Walnut Grove and the late Johnnie Hull. He is a 1988 graduate of South Leake High School and serves as an offshore oil rig safety consultant.
