Delgado sharp again in win

Randall Delgado turned in another fine pitching performance Saturday, throwing six shutout innings to lead the Mississippi Braves to a 2-0 victory over Jacksonville at Trustmark Park.

Delgado (4-1) allowed five hits and two walks, and struck out four to win his third consecutive decision. In his last three starts, he’s 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 17 strikeouts.

Benino Pruneda pitched two innings of shutout relief to earn his second save of the season.

Donell Linares went 3-for-3 for the M-Braves (15-21) and drove in both runs with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and a single in the sixth. Linares is 6-for-7 in two games since coming off the disabled list.

Game two of the series is scheduled for this afternoon at 1:05 at Trustmark Park. Left-hander Brett Oberholtzer (2-3, 3.61 ERA) will start for the M-Braves against right-hander Omar Poveda (1-2, 2.97).
