Eunice Sheffield Phillips celebrated her 100th birthday May 14, 2011. She was honored with a party featuring 250 relatives and friends at the home of Billy and Pauline Sheffield following Sunday services at the Church of the Nazarene, which she joined in 1937. Born prematurely in Sunflower County in 1911, she was not expected to survive, and she also overcame uterine cancer in her 30s. She remains close to her nieces and nephews and resides in an assisted living complex.
