James Daniel Horn

James Daniel Horn, age 95, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at River Region Medical Center.
Mr. Horn was born in McKenzie, Ala. He was chief of police for the City of Gulf Shores and the City of Daphne. He was also chiefdeputy for Taylor Wilkins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Horn (John) Gilmore of Vicksburg, Carol (Clarence) Nelson of Barnwell, Ala., and Elaine Criswell of Theodore, Ala.; one sister, Maude Vance of Memphis; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Wilkins Horn; four grandchildren, Jud Nelson, Bryan Nelson, Sabra Smith and Cindy Criswell; and one great-grandchild, Stacy Russell.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home with Dr. Henry Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Horn, John Gilmore, Jr., Shannon Gilmore, Darryl Nelson, Shawn Criswell and Todd Criswell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
