The Mississippi Braves continue to struggle in tight games. Tuesday night at Trustmark Park in Pearl was no different.
The Mobile BayBears got a strong performance from pitcher Jarrod Parker and earned a 2-1 win, dropping the M-Braves to 2-14 in one-run games.
Parker (4-4) limited the Braves to just three hits in five innings of work.
The Bay Bears scored all of their runs in the sixth inning. A.J. Pollock singled and Paul Goldschmidt was hit by pitch. Ryan Wheeler walked before a Taylor Harbin single plated Pollock. Marc Krauss delivered a sacrifice fly, bringing home Goldschmidt. The M-Braves cut the lead to 2-1, with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Donell Linares doubled to drive in Willie Cabrera, who had reached after being hit by a pitch. Marcus Lemon doubled with two outs in the ninth, but the M-Braves couldn’t take advantage as Jordan Kreke popped out to end the game.
