A helping hand — or two

Salvation Army volunteers Robert Owens, left, and Tony Tullos unload a truck load of donations Friday at the Salvation Army call center at the old Blackburn Motors on Washington Street. Shoppers at Walmart bought canned goods, non-perishable items, cleaning supplies, paper products and water and left them for donation in designated bins at the store. Phyllis Renfro with the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary said they have already received donations from Walmart customers in Jackson and Vicksburg and are expecting another delivery from Pearl on Saturday.
